I have become somewhat suspicious of making large purchases on ebay. I have gotten some good items at reasonable prices, but have also paid way too much for some crap. Anyway, I was wondering if the the disintegrated wood that you are describing is around a hole. If so, would it be possible to enlarge the hole, if necessary, glue a piece of dowel in the hole and then drill a new proper sized small hole through the dowel to insert the bolt? Just a thought.
