Dear Nancy,
I have been experimenting with weaving with handspun. The only materials I use are handspun wool. I plan to learn to spin with flax soon. When I weave with handspun, I use warp sizing to stenthen the warp. I have only used handspun warp. Occationally one warp thread will break, but I repair it by tying a knot, then unknot it when I am finished and reweave by hand. Try with a thicher yard at first. My e.p.i. started at 4 and now I am up to eight with a thiner yarn. I would suggest that you try a small project. I tried the full length of my old 1820 loom of 40 inches wide, so I really had trouble with the selveges and the length. Just have fun with it . Remember, a warm woven afghen on your sofa is a great thing to use. My son actually requested one from his sheep and "Mom, make it long enough to wrap around my feet and come up to my chin."
I will now try scarves with a smaller width to try out stripes and checks. Good luck
Marty
