Hi, I found two detailed plans for drum carders recently in books I got from my local library.
The first has an entire chapter on making a drum carder, including 17 illustrations and dimensional plans with precise measurements; parts list of 26 items including description, no. of, material, and dimensions;detailed construction instructions-including how-tos for drive motion, sprockets, drum machining, fulcrum arrangement, drilling holes in metal, gear/sprockets, etc. Also tells how to use the drum carder, make different kinds of belt drives, and add a guard to protect gears.
The second is less detailed but also very specific, and I think is helpful to have along with the fist set of plans because it offers additional views.
I will be making some copies of these because the books are out of print, and will be happy to mail them to anyone who requests one. I don't have a scanner, but might be able to access one at my school. Can contact at ckarsh@d.umn.edu: Please put in email heading DRUM CARDER- I get a lot of spam because I am a college student and I just delete loads of email-so the heading will prevent that -Thanks!
