Buying first spinning wheel

I am buying my first spinning wheel. I plan on trying a number of wheels before making a final decision, but on paper I am leaning toward the Ashford Traditional. If this becomes my only wheel ('big if' considering how my loom collection has swollen) it seems like the most expandable. i.e. It can grow with me and do a variety of different yarns with the various kits available. I would welcome any and all comments related to this logic.

Just for reference, I was comparing the Ashford Traditional, Traveller and Joy. The Lendrum, the Schacht (too expensive)the Majacraft Suzie and Rose (also a little pricey) the Jensen Tina II and the Kromski products. If you can offer any advise relating to these wheels it would be great.

My big question now is single drive or double drive. I really need some advise on this. It seems that the double drive with scotch tension seems like the best of both worlds, but again this is on paper - I don't have any real experience. If I order a wheel, I have to know what kind of drive system I want and I'm totally clueless. I really need help on this one!

Finally, if there are any opinions on double vs single tredle I'd like to hear them. I have lower back problems and I was wondering if one style might be less of a strain than the other.

Thank you to any who answer. I appreciate any help you can give!

Wendy
