Hi!
I've spun several different types of dog hair, and yes on a wheel.Removing the guard hair is personal preferance I would think. The gaurd hairs make for a little harder product, but pleasant just the same. Leaving the hair in it's natural state to spin is the easiest way I've found, the oils and "stuff" help the fibers stay together, but I like to spin most fibers "in the grease" and wash gently after. It's an older method and works great if you don't mind the smell! If you want a sturdier yarn you might think about blending with a natural colored wool. I hope this helps. Good luck!
