I just saw your post and I thought I'd throw in my 2¢. However you beam and thread your warp, when it is tied on and ready to start weaving, throw 3 or 4 shots without beating. Then beat strongly all at once. You should get an even fell and if there is a difference in the tension along the warp, you will see the loose warp threads create a loop behind the 3 or 4 shots. When I tie on, I usually just make a single knot and then do the above. Then I retie taking up the slack in those loose warp threads. Works for me because I too thread from back to front. However, even if you are a front to backer, this little trick should help. You may need more than 4 shots just to secure those pesky loose warp threads before you spread the warp. Clear as mud? If you are weaving a series of things on the same warp like placemats etc. and you notice that some warp threads are getting loose, try doing this trick between items to tighten things up.
Happy weaving and good luck.
Sylvia
