I am not sure it was only about a certain loom. United Statesans have had a long love affair with jack looms, and maybe your teacher just did not know any better.

I am a mostly self taught weaver, who has devoured loads of books. Many, many of them talked about how complicated and tricky countermarche looms were. I was scared off for a long time, not because I am too unintelligent to understand, but I did not know if I would ever find the needed information! (Buying a brand new loom that would come with video and manual was not a financial option, and besides the used books I found, I did not know where else to turn.) I had this big mystery built up around them, and it was needless. I think if you can easily reach your cords, can understand a tie-up, and can remember which lamm raises, and which lowers, you can do whatever you want, whenever you want.

I am so pleased for you with your new to you loom. Best of luck with those missing tubes.
