I actually like the corrugated paper. I have a piece as wide as my loom, so it works no matter what the width of the project. The only problem I have with it is that when doing a really long warp it gets really big.
My solution has been "faux wood" miniblinds. They work just like the wood strips but you can get a lot of them for way less money. They are also available in a variety of widths.
