It depends on what kind of heddles you are looking at. Most wire heddles the measurements are true to size 12" for 12" from the end to end. If you are talking about the flat steele they have 1/4" beyond the eye opening on both ends making them 1/2" longer than is actually needed. Most people who sell heddles will tell you what the measurement is from just the top of the top eye opening to the bottom of the eye opening. the insert eye heddles are generally measured the same as the regular wire heddles.
