Hi, I am a complete NEWBIE---but just got a "deal" on a J. L. Hammett floor loom being used for rag rugs right now. I am going to take some lessons from the owner before I move the loom home. I've been fascinated by weaving since at age 12 I was allowed to weave on a rag rug loom at a museum. I am involved in living history demonstrations and have many "old" skills but this is NOT (yet) one of them.
I am just starting out to learn about this loom and weaving. I couldn't find much on the history of the company, that name now is a school supply company established in 1863 (is it the same company?) nothing about weaving and looms though.
I will be back frequently to ask "stupid questions" I am sure, glad to have found this group.! thanks Joyce
