Please see my posting of Dec. 20, '05 regarding warping a Navajo loom. I have two of them, one warped, the other not. I took a class from Helga Miles in building and warping and weaving on a Navajo loom. Navajo weaving is satisfying because it can be carried around and set on a table and it gives insight in how the Navajos with their primitve looms 'did it'. If you are in the San Diego area, contact me and I'll be glad to show you how simple it is to warp and weave a Navajo vlanket. (You might, if fortunate, take a journey through Northern Arizona through Navajo territory where you will meet up with guides who take you down into their canyon lands and show you Navajo wives weaving on large primitive looms. The women work on their looms which are placed just outside their Hogans.) Good luck.
