Karen, I have two sock knitting machines. Check both ebay & your local antique stores for the old relics. Secret is to take them apart & clean them, oil, then buy new needles. Self patterning sock yarn is user friendly with the 12 g. needles. I paid my dues for a few hours before I caught on, but then I had never knitted before. The socks are very comfortable, will never go back to store bought. Prices very greatly, but worth extra when they are in hands on working condition.
