Melissa-There are many weavers out there with various levels of experience and interest. Try to find a local group or individual weaver who can help or at least talk weaving. I am in GR-Any MI person knows where that is. A two harness loom would get you started and can keep you busy for a life time. But if you fall in love with weaving patterns and possibilities, more harnesses will be so much more satisfying. I think 8-12H would be all I would ever need because I am a minimalist at heart, and would not want to get into the computer-driven looms. Loom size would be 36" minumum for me-for rag rugs and any fabric yardage. 36" might also be my maximum so that I have a comfortable reach. Check out web sites and magazines pertaining to weaving. I also see weaving books at the large bookstores in town. Hope this helps. Write back when you need more. I check this site often. Gloria S.
