I am selling my restored 18th century counterbalance/overhead beater 4 harness loom as I have recently acquired a 12 harness jack loom. Although I have only woven table runners and scarves on this loom, I think that it would also be suitable for rugs.I believe the wood is chestnut and it has a nice patina with a built-in seat. The lamms and treadles are the only non-original wood elements. Heddles are texsolv; and it comes with two stainless steel reeds: 6 dent and 12 dent. The loom measures approximately 6'x6'x6' and can be dissassembled to fit into a small pickup truck or van. This loom was originally part of the Americana Collection of Belcourt Castle, Newport, RI and was formerly on display there; it is purported to have come from the home of William Rose a.k.a. "Weaver Rose" of Exeter, RI (although I have no documentation to substantiate this). I am located in Woonsocket, RI and shipping is not possible. Can send photos. I am selling it for $450.00 or best offer.
