Allen Folding Loom

Last weekend at Scio Lamb & Wool Festival, I purchased an Allen Folding Loom from a vendor. It has a plaque: Allen Folding Loom, Arthur A Allen, Milwaukie, 22, Oregon.

It's in wonderful shape, came with all the parts (!), and was apparently used just for rugs by the previous owner.

Can anyone tell me about these looms? From the lack of Zip code, I have to assume that it is at least 40 years old or more. It has a 45" beam, 4 harness, 6 treadle, lovely wood construction. It came with 2 extra reeds that show some signs of minor rust. Can the rust be removed successfully? It really is minor, looks to be surface only.

Any information you can give would be gratefully appreciated. A Google search led to an article in the Sunday Oregonian 8/7/1949 (3p.) that I'll research on Tuesday. The search also turned up posts to this Discussion board from several years ago, so I know there are people out there who have these.

Thanks for the Help!
Evelyn
