I used a Kessenich loom at a camp I attended in the past (I try to use a different loom each time). I really liked it and they are built like a "tank." They have a lot of cast iron and heavy steel in them. The harnesses hang freely but are made of heavy steel or iron...not sure. The drum on the back is made of (I think) cast iron. I would not suggest a Kessenich for a workshop loom that would be transported frequently. I think they would be great if you had a place where they would not have to be moved much. But, all in all, I think they have a very good reputation and I enjoyed weaving on one. (I made two swedish lace tablecloths on the Kessenich I used at camp.) Hope this helps some. Phyllis
