Thanks Donna for your feedback. I think that the Normandy wheel is just the cat's meow. That wheel must be like having another person in the room, it has so much presence.
I appreciate your comments about having trust in the kind of arrangement where you are sending money off to a wheel builder and then finding yourself on a waiting list. Carson's current wait period is 14 months. A lot can happen in that time. It's certainly not for the impatient or for those who aren't sure what their finances will be that far down the road. But I have done this before, I bought a wheel a couple of years ago and it took 13 months from the time I ordered it until the time I received it. All went fine, the wheel builder was a super nice guy (doesn't build wheels any more) and the wheel was very much worth the wait and was more reasonably priced than buying a wheel from a middle-man dealer. When I ordered the wheel I figured I was SUPPOSED to feel a little uneasy about sending off half the payment and then waiting around for a year for my wheel, but I just never did feel weird about it. I got a very good sense of the integrity of the builder by talking with him on the phone and I get that same sense with my communication with Carson Cooper. So I personally would not rule out this way of doing business and especially considering that it's about the only way to order up a handbuilt wheel from one of the better builders. Now after hearing from you, I know for sure that Carson IS one of these better builders. Thanks so much, Raven
