What wheel did you get? You do not really need a specific type of wheel for cotton. Cotton is a very short fiber and it lacks the crimp and scales that wool has, therefore it needs to be spun pretty fine and with a fairly tight twist. A spinning wheel with a higher ratio works best, but you can get by with a lower ratio if you reduce the tension so that it won't draw on too fast. I would suggest that you spin wool for while and get good with that before you try cotton.
