A long while ago I bought a 4-harness, 6-treadle, counter-balance floor loom at a garage sale. Now after years of swearing to my family and friends that it was going with me to the Oregon coast when I retire. I’ve come to the realization that it needs to live with someone who will actually use it. I did bond with it, but not as fully as it deserves. So I’m trying to find it a good home. Unfortunately its pedigree is unknown. At the time I bought it, in the flush of getting this great big beautiful loom for only 100 bucks, it didn’t occur to me to ask the owner for information about it. There is no owner’s manual, and there are no markings to be found anywhere to identify where it was manufactured.

Combing through pictures of looms on the Internet the only one that comes close in appearance is the Leclerc Fanny, but my loom is at least 25 years old. Judging from the hardware and the style of the woodworking it feels like it could be from the 40’s.

The weaving width is 40”, and actual width is 45”. There is a warp board that is 36” x 36”, and there are extra heddles. The apron looks a little worn. The bench is a pretty sturdy piece of furniture all by itself. I’ve used it as an end table. Overall the loom looks solid and square.

Anyone interested? Again I’m looking for a righteous home for this baby, so any and all offers will be considered.

Thanks - Kath
