Union Special Loom

I have a Union Special Loom by Union Loom Works that I recently saved from an old barn. It appears to be in good working condition and complete, but is dirty. I'd like to clean it up a bit as I'd like to sell it. I've gotten my hands on the instruction book and would like to check all the parts. The problem is, there's a half woven rug still in it. Should I remove (basically cut) the rug out of the loom, or clean around it and leave it to an expert? I don't know if the textile itself is valuable in any way and would hate to destroy it if so. I am completely weaving-challenged. Thanks for any suggestions.
