Patty - I have never used a Newcomb but do have a Leclerc Nilus. I recently wove a alpaca and llama couch blanket on this loom. The loom weaves very smoothly and my blanket turned out quite wonderful. Even without trying a Newcomb, I know you can't go wrong with Leclerc. Plus, there appears to be alot of them around and thus you probably can find a good used one.

If buying used, make sure none of the loom parts are warped and that the back and front beam are parrallel to each other.

Hope this helps.

Teri
