I did LOADS of research (three months of reading literature, visiting websites, and visiting stores to try looms) before I settled on a J-Made. It is a very sturdy loom, 48", typically made of cherry but he had some walnut ones in the workshop when I was there. I love this loom so much that I put the specs, pricing and contact info on my website at www.cashmerecat.com. He is still selling current stock at 30% off. The only thing I would recommend is that you make sure you get everything you need right at the time of purchase. Dale is a bit slow in responding to follow-up requests.

I have a friend who had an AVL which was a lemon and she couldn't get AVL to believe that it was such a problem. Things were so bad she was considering suing them. But I have heard of many AVL users who are happy with theirs.
