You can definitely weave rugs (or place-mats, mug rugs or anything else that uses the rug-weaving technique) using a Schact or almost any other type of loom--you just beat a little harder. In fact, the first rug I made was using a Schact table-loom. OBviously, they aren't going to be as wideas on a floor loom, so it became a table-runner. I still have it and it looks great. Try it.
