I can't find a picture of that particular model, but have used about six of the smaller Macombers at my old job with Sam Kasten. If it's what I'm thinking of (with replaceable wire hooks going up to cast bronze levers,) then the answer is yes, you can weave fine stuff on them with practice. As far as I can tell the only limitation is the user; until you get used to beating exactly the same each time you will end up with variations in shade. As for the loom itself it's very quick and smooth to weave with, and you don't have to get up to advance the warp. You just have to keep lots of wire hooks handy as they wear out quickly.
