Raymond, these ends are called "thrums." One use for them (if you are also a spinner, or know someone who is)...there is a wool processor in Utah called Spinderella's. If you chop up the thrums into one-inch or shorter bits, she will recard them into spinnable fiber. If you do alot of weaving, it's a good way to recycle!
